The Key to Success
SCIENCE OF SUCCESS
THE KEY to SUCCESS
I promise this Blog Post will help you with health & fitness, Professional, or Personal Goals, just keep reading!!
FACT: At 31 years old, (now 35) I have figured out THE KEY to success in EVERY single aspect of one’s life.
DISCLAIMER: I’m ONLY 31 years old, I don’t know it all nor do I pretend that I do.
Recently, I wrote a Blog called FF2PB: THE COMPLACENCY CANCER. This Blog was one of my most popular blogs to date, however, one of the 4 rules that I highlighted for fitness success is a gateway to THE KEY to success in all aspects of life.
From the Blog FF2PB: The Complacency Cancer
Rule: Help someone else
What I tried to highlight in this specific rule is the power of being a good role model. Statistically, we don’t want to be hypocritical; I must admit there have been times I have skipped a buffet because the image of bumping into a client while I was “cheating” crossed my mind. Now, I don’t have a problem with food anymore and it wouldn’t hurt my health and fitness journey to stop and eat that garbage on a very seldom occassion, but it could be detrimental to the journey of a client. The thought that my one unnecessary action, could be a potential catalyst for negative results helps keep me honest. Now, having said that, this is not the driving philosophy behind THE KEY to success. Recently, Michael Watkins, a great guy & the owner of Fitness Together Jenks/Riverside & Downtown, posted this profound quote as his status update:
You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
Zig Ziglar, “Secrets of Closing the Sale”, 1984
That’s THE KEY.
It’s not another system, when you’re absolutely passionate about helping someone else accomplish their goals, you don’t need a system, or a checklist, or a marketing team to promote yourself or your business. On the flip side, IF you are not legitimately passionate about helping others accomplish their goals, then it won’t matter how many systems, checklists, or marketing teams you have working for you, you will never be successful, or EVEN WORSE, you won’t recognize when you are; why? because your journey is dependent upon the selfish desire of focusing on and helping yourself. I have had clients and currently have clients who have loved me and hated me many times over; they love me when I am encouraging and positive and they hate me when I am corrective and intrusive. . . The same passion and love for my clients is responsible for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes to my style of training. If I was only concerned with my personal success, I would do whatever I could to never ruffle any feathers, I would sit back and allow a mediocre approach to health and fitness to govern my relationships with my clients, and they would get mediocre results and there would be mediocre buzz around my style of training and my knowledge, but no one would ever be upset with me and I would never give anyone a reason to criticize me; then, I could spend a ton of time and money on marketing and at the end of it all, I could be the most well known mediocre trainer available.
I promise I am not gloating here: Many of my clients know that I currently own a small online company and left what many would consider fiscal success as a supervisor with a company where I was consistently advancing. I left in pursuit of my own happiness because money was not it. The more money I gained, the more I wanted. The more successful I became, the less successful I felt. I felt this way because my journey was about me and only me. As I aged, I discovered an interesting truth; I can’t become truly passionate about me anymore.
So, I did professionally what I am encouraging you to do personally.
Become a health nut for someone else.
Find someone in your life who you would literally die for and do the opposite, LIVE FOR THEM!! Educate yourself, Push yourself, and Commit yourself to health and fitness for your child, your spouse, your peers, whoever it is, use your love for another to spark a passion in you that will eliminate the need for systems in your life and allow you to live out of a genuine desire to help your fellow man. Free yourself to live from the heart.
FINAL DISCLAIMER: (There are personality types out there who prefer using their own unique checklists to help them stay organized and succeed at helping others. If you need that or even prefer using a set of rules to live out of your heart, then by all means, you should.)
YOU CAN DO IT!
