Mindfulness, Health, & Fitness: Does it Ever Get any Easier?

DOES THIS EVER GET ANY EASIER?

Does pursuing healthy mindfulness, health, or fitness goals ever get any easier? No. It does not. Sorry. You most likely will get better at handling the difficulties, but chances are, there will be more and greater struggles ahead. Here’s a Secret: although, there will be more hardships, loss, and failures, knowing your deck is rigged can often benefit you.

However, ONLY the one who knows the deck is rigged benefits by understanding HOW the deck is rigged and how to use that knowledge in order to give themselves an advantage.

Is My Life Rigged

Would you rather be the player who knows your life is a rigged deck and in what way, would you like to have some clue as to how the deck is rigged, or would you rather continue to be shocked every time something negative comes your way?

NO IT WON’T GET EASIER.

Today’s article is designed to help you AND maybe more importantly, me. This is being written merely to remind you that you are not crazy; this journey we call “life” is very VERY hard and the odds ARE stacked against you, and not just you, but every single person you know and love.

THAT’S NOT FAIR. (DIET & EXERCISE)

You may see someone today or this week with 8% body fat and a chiseled physique eat a giant piece of cake or an entire stuffed crust pizza. I assure you, you’re not crazy, it is not fair.

Every single person is different and even though that person eating pancakes is most likely putting in copious amounts of effort to compensate for such decisions, but even if they are not, they are still putting absolute garbage into their system at that moment and that trash is not responsible for that six pack, and here’s the good news, they are somehow disadvantaged in some way in which you are not.

That information may or may not bring you comfort, but it’s still critical to remember if you seek knowledge and power to change your outcomes and the way you see your life’s story playing out.

EAT REAL FOOD. TRAIN REAL HARD.

It seems easy enough. In fact, it IS easy enough until you’ve

  • done it for awhile, or
  • when you decide to eat that first bad thing for you,
  • or skip that first morning after an adequate day of rest.

Like an alcoholic returning to the bottle to see if they can “handle it this time,” we food addicts (or any other substance) convince ourselves that we have got it under control, but you will never have it under control.  That doesn’t mean that falling off the wagon is the end of the world though.

It also doesn’t necessarily mean that you made that bad decision because you are in “a bad place.” The foods or substances that you know to avoid CAN from time to time be triggered to control your emotions and actions. . . BUT why?

THE RIGGED DECK

Processed, unhealthy foods, and substances have been designed & often times produced to achieve a very specific task:

Addiction.

Nutritionists, Dieticians, and Scientists work tirelessly to put together the perfect combination of cheap chemicals with the perfect balance of sugars and salt to hook you, but they never fulfill you or nourish you. Manufacturers know that nutrients cost

  1. time,
  2. energy,
  3. and money;

that’s not what we like.  We have evolved to seek out fast, easy, and cheap.

GETTING AN “EDGE.”

READ REAL STUDIES. APPLY RATIONALITY.

The Pseudoscientific Community is Alive and Ticking and they are preying on the lazy lack of *skepticism that is inherently implemented during childhood. Parents explain the nature of reality to children by using invisible beings, metaphysical solutions, and nonsensical phrases like, “because I said so,” to make children stop asking tough questions and leave them alone.

Mostly, this happens because finding real answers is hard work, but also so that parents and adults don’t reveal they ALSO don’t know how to prove that

  • the Earth is not flat,
  • our astronauts DID land on the Moon,
  • how & why a GPS System Works,

and the list goes on and on for what seems like an eternity.

LIFE HACK: Learn to accept and say,

“I don’t know.”

Admitting to not know something does not make you stupid, some may think it does, but what this phrase actually does is make you objective and rational. We exist in an infinite state of ignorance concerning so many things, the only powerful tool you have is a healthy level of skepticism and curiosity about the nature of your reality if you mean to understand it as it really is.

We humans get trained by most of our teachers and parents that ANY explanation is better than NO explanation. This is why we get people believing that the same technology that have almost entirely eradicated Measles and Smallpox might be responsible for Autism with NO good evidence.

If you do not know HOW to research a topic in order to be able to logically and rationally come to evidence based conclusions, then I suggest you pick up a copy of Derren Brown’s Book Tricks of the Mind, and FOCUS on Part 6: Anti Science, Pseudo-Science, & Bad Thinking

TRICKS OF THE MIND

THE NORM

Our struggles are real. Obesity is becoming the norm. Sickness is rampant. The government is bought and paid for where the food industry is concerned.  Even research has to be scrutinized and dissected to distinguish truth and fact from opinion and rhetoric. Finances are impossible to balance amid a sea of materialistic hedonism.

Our brain is designed to run from tigers and predators or to forage for berries, nuts, and finally pursuing smaller animals for food; the mind has not evolved to handle tax season. Your boss might be able to regurgitate the facts needed to pass his college exams, but doesn’t comprehend logistical fallacies, arguments from ignorance, syllogisms, or how humans are really processing their realities and yet, here we are and it won’t get any easier.

THE SOLUTION

Fall in love with what makes you amazing. Listen, you already have all the odds against you, the environment you are in is trying to kill you and eventually will; isn’t it time to focus on what you do really well? Isn’t time for you to consider the things in your life which make you feel real and significant gratitude?

You will get to a point where it will feel impossible again and again, but that moment doesn’t have to be now, what would you look like if you were thinking about all the good in your life? Would you be sad, would you be second guessing yourself, would you be crying about how unfair it all is or would you realize that there isn’t really one magic fix-it-all solution, at least not one that’s any huge secret.

We all vote with our dollars. We change things by changing ourselves. When good health, a clean & safe environment, & yes even nutrient dense food is what we seek and buy over

  • fast,
  • cheap,
  • and easy,

the tides begin to change and big money is forced to produce the products that we want. When we recognize that healthy or fit isn’t the same as strong or thin, when we switch from a 6 bedroom to a 3, when we drive higher fuel efficient vehicles, and refuse to meet violence with cruelty and more violence, then WE, yes WE, change the atmosphere.

Stay the course. Save your life. Save future lives, AND REMEMBER you were born here in your world at the safest time in our species’ history, you have the internet and can read this, you are surrounded by opportunity and people who want you to succeed so do something about your life if you don’t like it.

No, it doesn’t really get any easier and knowing that sometimes makes it easier.
